Holiday Entertainment Guide 2019: ‘A Christmas Carol’ arrives on Chicago’s stages

It’s among the most iconic stories about one man’s redemption. And it all happens over the course of one snowy, magical Christmas Eve in Victorian-era London.

It’s Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” and each holiday season, Chicago’s stages are filled with Scrooges, Ghosts and Tiny Tims.

Here’s a look at some of the productions of “A Christmas Carol” playing at a theater near you:

“A Christmas Carol”: Larry Yando returns as Ebenezer Scrooge in the annual staging of Charles Dickens classic holiday story; directed by Henry Wishcamper. Nov. 16-Dec. 29. Goodman Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn, $25-$89; goodmantheatre.org

“A Xmas Cuento Remix”: Maya Malen-Gonzalez’s modern-day music-infused take on Dicken’s holiday classic is set in a pub where the owner thinks Christmas is a scam and charity is for suckers; directed by Miguel Nunez.
