Holiday booking site LateRooms.com has ceased trading

Holiday booking website LateRooms.com has ceased trading.

The Manchester-based company collapsed alongside holiday website Super Break, both owned by The Malvern Group.

LateRooms tweeted the news on Thursday, saying: "Regrettably LateRooms.com has ceased trading from 1.8.19. A notice of intention to appoint an administrator has been filed."

A statement on the Malvern Group website says they 'anticipate that' reservations are secure.

They say payments "will be taken by the accommodation supplier either in advance (for non-refundable reservations) or at the property."

The contact centre is no longer working, the statement says, and will not be taking further calls.

Super Break is a member of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

LateRooms was based at The Peninsula building in the Green Quarter.

In a statement on the travel website, ABTA said: "All bookings that have not departed may be cancelled."

They add: "The vast majority of holidaymakers’ travel arrangements will be covered through one of a number of different types of financial protection.

"If you are currently on a Super Break holiday, you should be able to continue with your trip as planned.

"Whilst this news may be extremely upsetting for you, please be assured if your holiday was booked with Super Break, we are here to help you."

In a statement to The Mirror, Hugo Kimber, Malvern executive chairman, said:  “This is a devastating blow for all of our wonderful employees who have invested so much time and effort into building Malvern, its brands and trips technology platform.

“This is equally difficult for all our suppliers, partners and customers who will be impacted by this news. To be so close to delivering our goal of an integrated, dynamic and commercially successful business, that could provide significant value through its innovative products, is heart-breaking.”
