Holby City siege sees Geordie actor poised to kill off iconic character in dramatic scenes

Holby City fans were left on the edges of their seat as a Geordie actor looked set to kill off iconic character Jac Naylor in a dramatic episode on Tuesday night.

Philip Correia, who has previously appeared in Vera and is also a successful stage writer, took on the role of Remi, a vengeful cop, sacked from the force over an assault on a teenager, who burst into the hospital intent on getting to his ex girlfriend.

Thirty-seven-year old Phillip's unhinged character made his debut in last week's episode of the hit BBC medical drama, which ended on a real cliffhanger as a shot was fired, leaving viewers guessing as to who was the victim, especially after the news that Rosie Marcel, the actress famous for playing Jac, was revealed to be leaving the show.

It ended being a prison officer who was shot but the drama didn't end there as Remi held the hospital under siege as Jac and troubled colleague Kian looked on.

Jac, who'd been shot in 2017, when Fredrik Hanssen entered the hospital and fired at her, leaving her for dead, began to taunt Remi telling him: "Did I mention I've been shot before? In the spine - by some other loser who lacked one'

As he took aim at her, many viewers said they 'couldn't watch', assuming she'd be killed.

However, as he pulled the trigger, nothing came out and Kian managed to take him down so Jac could grab the gun as police stormed Darwin ward.

Prior to the episode, one fan predicted the worst, tweeting: "I think Jac Naylor has just pushed her luck once too often, and has unfortunately been shot in the head after challenging the gunman..." and, after she survived, another posted: "You mean to tell me Jac Naylor didn’t get shot??!! I CAN BREATHE AGAIN?"

Jac ended up bowing out in more sedate fashion.

After the siege had taken its toll on her and she spotted Kian about to take drugs, she packed up her stuff, said poignant farewells to her colleagues and got into a car being driven by long time friend Clayton.
