Holby City fans confused as Corrie's Janice Battersby appears as cancer patient

Holby City viewers were surprised last night when a familiar face appeared on their screens.

Vicky Entwistle , who played Janice Battersby in Coronation Street , starred in a guest role in the BBC hospital soap.

She played stage 4 cancer patient Sandra Jackson, who was treated by Jac Naylor (Rosie Marcel).

In the episode, Sandra was facing more rounds of gruelling chemotherapy to treat her cancer.

Sympathetic Jac offered her another solution - an operation that could completely get rid of the cancer - but it was an extremely high risk operation.

If it worked, Jac reassured Sandra, she would live for many more years to come.

Sandra accepted the offer, and the two bonded as they shared with each other their respective struggles.

But during the operation, Jac realised Sandra's cancer had spread, and she died during surgery.

Jac was heartbroken over the death as she had grown close to Sandra, and when Elliott (Paul Bradley) tried to comfort her, she snapped at him.

Viewers were surprised to see "loudmouth" Janice on a different show, and took to Twitter to comment.

One wrote: "Janice Battersby making her big return to a big time television spot."

Another added: "Wow, Vicky Entwistle who used to be Janice Battersby in Corrie.

"I recognised her voice before I saw her face, but she looks exactly the same."

A third said: "OMG It's Janice Battersby."

"I'm in the recognising Janice Battersby age group", wrote a fourth.
