
People stroll among a field in the town of Hokuryu, Hokkaido, one of the country's top destinations for viewing sunflowers. This year, about 2 million sunflowers, about 500,000 more than last year, were planted to bloom at different times over an about 23-hectare area. About 380,000 of them near an observation deck came into full bloom around last Saturday and will remain at their peak through Sunday.
