Hojbjerg sought out Christian Eriksen and Chelsea’s Christensen for advice on life under Tottenham boss Conte

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg asked Denmark colleagues Christian Eriksen and Andreas Christensen for advice on life under Antonio Conte as he prepared for the new Tottenham manager’s arrival.

The Italian appears to have earmarked midfielder Hojbjerg as one of the key players in his trademark 3-4-3 setup, partnering him with Oliver Skipp in both of his games in charge so far.

After the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo, Conte quickly emerged as the favourite for the dugout and Hojbjerg has revealed that he discussed what to expect with two of the coach’s former players.

“Obviously I knew him, like the rest of the world, but not personally,” he told Danish channel TV3.

“I talked about him with Christian Eriksen, who had him at Inter Milan, and with Andreas Christensen, who crossed paths with him at Chelsea.

“Now with Conte the moment looks positive, because he has a direct and clear manner, on and off the pitch. As a player that is motivating.”

Eriksen won Serie A under Conte last season but has been ruled out from playing for the Nerazzurri following his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, which led to the ex-Spurs star being fitted with a implantable cardioverter defibrillator device.

Fellow Dane Christensen was brought into the Chelsea team by the manager in 2017, following a loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach, and won the FA Cup having earned a regular spot in the squad.
