Twitch is offering up a selection of in-game cosmetic items for Hogwarts Legacy as a part of its Twitch Drops program, handing out freebies for players tuning into particular streams.
Alongside the release of Hogwarts Legacy today, a selection of in-game cosmetics can be unlocked just by watching the game being streamed on Twitch. These items can be redeemed for the PS5, Xbox Series X |S and PC versions, but you can also save them for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch when the game is available on those platforms later down the line (April 4 for PS4 and Xbox One, July 25 for Switch).
Twitch Drops campaigns let you earn in-game items by watching streamers that have Twitch Drops enabled for a specific amount of time. In the past it's been available for games like Overwatch 2 and MultiVersus. You can start earning Hogwarts Legacy Twitch Drops right now, through to Friday, February 24.
Twitch Drops can be unlocked for a title even if you haven't bought it yet. But you will need a WG Games account to earn the Drops, as well as logging into Hogwarts Legacy once you do pick it up to and set up your account.
Hogwarts Legacy Twitch Drops free items
There are five exclusive items obtainable through Hogwarts Legacy Twitch Drops:
Silver Dragon-Eyed Spectacles
Urchin Hat
Carmine Lightning Bolt Scarf
Lilac Ensemble
Merlin’s Cloak
None of these items offer any in-game perks but if you want to add a dash of pizzazz to your character's aesthetic, you can style them with these items. But, in the case of the Merlin's Cloak, you can look like a real wizard instead of some dorky child in a school uniform.
You can obtain these cosmetic items in Hogwarts Legacy by watching specific streamers on Twitch who are playing the game with drops enabled. There isn’t a full list available anonyingly, but if you visit the Hogwarts Legacy Twitch page, you’re bound to see a few streams with the 'dropsenabled' tag or mentioning Twitch Drops in the title of their stream. You can double check this by looking for a popup at the top of a channels chat, which should mention the Drops.

Create or sign into a free Warner Bros. Games account.
Connect your Twitch account to your Warner Bros. account
Watch Hogwarts Legacy streams, with an item unlocking every half hour (which you can keep track of in your Twitch inventory)
Redeem your rewards in both your Twitch inventory and on the Hogwarts Legacy website
How to unlock Hogwarts Legacy Merlin's Cloak
Getting the Hogwart's Legacy Merlin's Cloak requires a bit of a different method. This item is exclusively for those who tune in to the Hogwarts Legacy Avalanche Software Twitch channel while it's live. So be sure to catch the Avalanche Software Twitch stream today and watch at least 20 minutes of it.
The stream kicks off at 4PM GMT / 11am ET / 8am PT. The studio hasn’t specified how long the stream will be live, so your best bet is showing up for the beginning of the stream just in case. There's always a chance Avalanche is planning more streams, but nothing has been announced as of yet.
