Three years after its release, "Hogwarts Legacy" is still getting new content, only this time it is coming from the modding community rather than from Avalanche Software itself.
A new PC mod now lets players do something the original game never allowed, as it now allows players to step inside the Chamber of Secrets.
'Hogwarts Legacy' Mod Brings The Chamber of Secrets
The Chamber of Secrets is one of the most legendary locations in the "Harry Potter" universe. First introduced in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," the hidden chamber beneath Hogwarts serves as the lair of the basilisk, a monstrous serpent controlled by the heir of Slytherin.
The story surrounding it, including Harry Potter's second year at Hogwarts, the mystery of the petrified students, and the revelation of Tom Riddle's diary, remains one of the most beloved arcs in the entire franchise.
GameRant said that in "Hogwarts Legacy," players can actually visit the bathroom that serves as the chamber's entrance without needing any mod at all. The girls' bathroom in question is already accessible in the base game.
However, since "Hogwarts Legacy" takes place in the 1800s, decades before the events of the books and films, the chamber has no reason to be open.
The basilisk is still asleep deep below the school, and Moaning Myrtle, the ghost who would later haunt the same bathroom, could still be alive or may not have been born yet. This means none of those familiar elements are present. The bathroom exists, but without the mod, there is simply nothing to find inside the chamber beyond a sealed door.
How to Download the Mod For The Iconic Chamber
The Chamber of Secrets mod was developed by a team of creators consisting of maxshig_dev, KBNGaming 2, theTarya, and more. It is available to download for free on CurseForge, where it can be found under the "Hogwarts Legacy" mods section by searching for The Chamber of Secrets directly.
Before installing the mod, there are a couple of prerequisites worth noting. Players need to have completed the in-game quest called "In the Shadow of the Study" before the mod's content will trigger properly.
The development team also recommends visiting the Chamber with a high-level character, since the encounter inside is designed to challenge players rather than serve as a simple sightseeing tour.
Here's How to Enter the Chamber of Secrets
Once the mod is installed and the prerequisites are met, finding the entrance is straightforward. Players need to head to the Lower Grand Staircase inside Hogwarts and walk toward the entrance to the Slytherin common room.
Before reaching it, take a right turn, and the girls' bathroom will be visible just ahead.
From there, the mod unlocks what the base game never could. The entrance to the Chamber of Secrets opens up, letting players descend into the hidden passage beneath the school and explore the space as it has been reimagined specifically for "Hogwarts Legacy."
The mod adds the Chamber as a fully playable area rather than a visual placeholder.
With "Hogwarts Legacy 2" currently in development and WB pointing toward a setting that overlaps with the upcoming "Harry Potter" television series on Max, the sequel could eventually introduce the Chamber of Secrets as part of the official game.
