Hogmanay forecast: Glasgow to enjoy unseasonable warm weather on New Years Eve

Cast your mind back to Hogmanays of the past and no doubt you'll be reminded of images of rosy cheeks freezing toes and chilly hands that even the warmest beer coat couldn't warm.

But forget huddling around a roaring fire - this year it looks like we'll be enjoying some unseasonably warm  weather as we bring in the bells.

The Met Office forecast predicts that Glasgow will enjoy warm temperatures over the next few days, with mercury reaching highs of 12C  - well above the UK average for December.

Come Tuesday when we celebrate the end of the decade, we can look forward to closing the year with sunny spells and top temperatures of 10C.

The clear weather overnight on December 31 will be perfect for enjoying the fireworks - and thanks to the high temps you can leave the Michelin Man layers at home this year!

However, the good weather isn't set to last. Come Thursday, January 2,  the weather is predicted to turn wet and windy with gales and heavier rain hitting the city.

Seems like the weather isn't committed to making any resolutions in 2020. We hope you all got a rain jacket from Santa!
