Hoffenheim confirm Joelinton talks as Newcastle United prepare to break record transfer on Brazil striker

Hoffenheim have confirmed that Joelinton is in “concrete talks” with a Premier League club - and Newcastle United are hoping to complete what could be a record breaking deal for the Brazilian forward.

but it was a signing Rafa Benitez did not approve of, not because he felt he was a bad player but because he queried if the money should be spent in other areas.

But in the aftermath of Benitez’s departure, the club have pushed on with the deal and it is understood new head coach Steve Bruce would welcome his arrival.

The Brazil forward was withdrawn from the squad to take on Jahn Regensburg this afternoon and his agents were finalising the deal with Newcastle on Wednesday afternoon.

Hoffenheim confirmed via their Twitter account he was in talks, and posted: “He is in concrete negotiations with a Premier League club.

“It may be that he leaves us.”
