AMRITSAR: Indian hockey Olympians were given warm welcome with the beats of dhol here on Wednesday in presence of the first-ever hockey Olympian from the holy city of Amritsar Balwinder Singh Shammi during a function hosted at Spring Dale Senior School in association with Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Academy.
The visiting hockey Olympians included three alumni of the school including Dilpreet Singh, Shamsher Singh, and Ramandeep Singh. The players were accompanied by their parents who looked overwhelmed to see the warm reception of their wards.
The host panel, including Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Kirat Sandhu Cheema, Rajiv Kumar Sharma who expressed their commitment to promoting the love for the sport of hockey and utilizing sports as an effective instrument to keep the youth away from the drug menace.
