A trip to the local Hobbycraft store has long been a regular routine for many families eager to get their hands on all the arty essentials.
All ages tend to love it and for young ones there's everything they need to create mini masterpieces, while the popular in-store craft clubs also offer creative tips.
But with store branches out of bounds during the coronavirus lockdown, the chain has come up with an online version of its Kids Craft Club - plus some ideas for how adults too can learn fresh skills or try new hobbies.
The online craft club for children will offer something new each day, with Wednesday's session set to have space as its theme.
Hobbycraft will be posting video tutorials at 11am each day on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and these will include crafting challenges and projects.
Besides being a way to entertain those currently unable to go to school, the club will be teaching skills to keep minds and hands active.
After Wednesday's space-theme activity, with Hobbycraft sewing tutor Sophia Palmer showing how to make a star and moon decoration from felt, there will be a new theme each day, with other upcoming ideas including family portraits, colouring-in and origami.
The tutorials will be available across Hobbycraft's social media channels where there are also plenty ideas to engage adults' interest.
There is a series of 'how to get started' guides to activities on the 'ideas hub' on its website.
These include step-by-step instructions and video tutorials on a range of subjects including knitting, macrame, dressmaking, lino printing, floristry, soap-making and pyrography (wood-burning).
