Hoax call sees armed police swoop on Leeds street

Armed police descended on a Leeds street after reports that a man had been seen with a gun.

A number of police vehicles and armed officers arrived in East End Park at around 3pm on Sunday after West Yorkshire Police received a phone call saying a man had been seen with a gun.

However the force now believes it was a hoax call.

Officers were called to a 'disturbance' at a home in Raincliffe Terrace, East End Park, but found no evidence.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 2.23pm yesterday, police received a report of a disturbance at an address in Raincliffe Terrace, East End Park, involving a man seen with a handgun.

"Armed officers were deployed to the scene and found no evidence of any such incident.

"It is believed to have been a hoax call and enquiries are ongoing."
