Hoarder urinated in bottles and dumped them in bags around mice-infested house

A hoarder who urinated into plastic bottles and lived off takeaways has managed to transform his life.

Keith lived in squalor at his mice-infested home after falling into a depression, Yorkshire Live reports.

He did not cook for himself, rarely left his home and discarded urine-filled plastic bottles in bags scattered around the house.

He was on the brink of being evicted from his council home when York-based group Community Bees decided to help him.

The group of volunteers started by clearing out the rubbish and making his kitchen usable again.

Once they had cleared the kitchen, Keith started to cook for himself again.

Community Bees previously helped clean tonnes of rubbish from another home (Community Bees)

Michaela Shaw, who runs Community Bees, said: “As time went on he became more and more engaged during our weekly visits and started helping with the chores.”

Keith went on to clean his bathroom with support and together they contacted the council to repair some glass in his kitchen and to fix the sink.

Michaela also encouraged Keith to join a photography group, but this didn’t quite work out for him.

After a delicate process and steady progress, Keith's house is far from perfect but because of the weekly visits and regular support, he has started to look after himself again.

He is also no longer threatened with eviction.
