HMV store at Bristol's Cribbs Causeway saved from closure

An entertainment store in Bristol which was under threat of closure has been saved, Bristol Live can reveal.

It was announced last month that HMV's branch at Cribbs Causeway was one of 10 in the UK subject to negotiations.

The store also had a 'closing down sale', leading shoppers to think its days were numbered.

But there is now good news for music lovers, as a spokesperson for the chain said the store will remain open following discussions with the landlord.

In an email sent to Bristol Live, HMV's senior events and editorial manager Simon Winter said: "I can happily now now confirm that this store is NOT closing.

"We have managed to agree terms with the landlord, which allow us to remain open.

"This is the best news for our staff and great news for all of our loyal customers."

Bristol Live has asked HMV for information on the terms with the landlord and is awaiting a response.

The store on the upper level of The Mall had a turbulent 2019, closing in February before reopening just three months later.

The reopening in May was announced on the shop's social media pages and came as good news to those who shop there regularly, who now have another reason to celebrate.
