HMV in Leeds city centre set to close

The popular Leeds city centre HMV is closing down.

Signs have gone up in the window of the shop saying it is shutting and that all stock must go.

The store, which is part of The Core shopping centre, is based across two floors and sells DVDs, CDs, vinyls and technology.

In recent years, HMV’s future has looked increasingly bleak as the retailer faced repeated financial struggles.

It is believed the Leeds branch will close at the end of July.

HMV’s first store opened in London’s Oxford Street back in 1921.

Earlier this year, Canadian company Sunrise Records bought HMV and closed 27 of their shops.
