HMS Prince of Wales weather forecast for Liverpool visit

Aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales arrives in Liverpool tomorrow and thousands are expected turn out to give her a warm welcome.

The 65,000 tonne warship will make her way up the River Mersey to Liverpool Cruise Terminal where she will stay for a week.

Visitors from all over the country are expected to come to the city to see this magnificent ship up close.

But if your planning to come and view the ship you may want to bring your waterproofs as Liverpool is likely to be hit by heavy rainfall over the weekend.

Here's the full weather forecast for this weekend.

Friday

Currently, the Met Office has predicted that Storm Jorge is expected to bring heavy rainfall through the morning that could turn to sleet with temperatures falling to what could feel like freezing with lows of 3°C.

There will also be strong winds and people are advised to wrap up warm.

Showers will begin around 8am becoming heavier from around 3pm with milder temperatures towards the afternoon and into the evening. There will be blustery winds through out the day.

Saturday

The weather is predicted to be a lot drier on Saturday with even some sunshine in the afternoon, although a yellow weather warning is in place for strong winds from 12pm.

Wind gusts of up 40mph are expected in the afternoon along with light showers, temperatures will only reach 6°C but it will feel more like 1°C to freezing.

Sunday

It's looking a lot nicer on Sunday with sunshine from 9am and sunny intervals going into the afternoon.

Once again, there is a yellow weather warning in place with wind gusts reaching 38mph but showers are less likely.

The wind means that is will feel a lot colder than the forecast 7°C coming in at around 2°C.
