HMS Prince of Wales Liverpool arrival time confirmed

The Royal Navy has confirmed the arrival time of the HMS Prince of Wales into Liverpool.

The aircraft carrier will make her way up the River Mersey and arrive into Liverpool Cruise Terminal at around 2pm.

The 65,000 tonne warship is expected to start up the river around 12.30pm before turning 180 degrees in the Mersey at 1.30pm.

She will then dock at the cruise terminal with her starboard (right) side on the jetty and her bow facing the mouth of the River Mersey .

However, these times are dependant on the weather conditions and could change.

Currently, the Met Office has predicted that Storm Jorge is expected to bring heavy rainfall through the morning that could turn to sleet with temperatures falling to what could feel like freezing.

There will also be strong winds and people are advised to wrap up warm.

Nearly 13,000 people will go on board the ship this weekend.
