HM Coastguard looking to recruit 'rescue officers' to save lives

HM Coastguard are currently pushing to recruit many new coastguard rescue officers across the North West and Wales.

The Wirral coastguard rescue team are one of the many teams in the North West looking to take on new recruits, and are looking to recruit new volunteer rescue officers to expand their coastguard rescue team, based in Meols. The roles are perfect for those looking for a challenge as officers will be required to be available at a moment's notice every hour of every day of the year, to respond to a wide range of emergency incidents, some of which may be hazardous.

Such incidents include people needing help in the water, mud rescue, rope rescue, medical emergencies, helicopter operations as well as missing person searches.

  • Be prepared and available to attend mandatory training and assessments (see dates below)
  • Be prepared to respond in environments that will involve working in the water;
  • Be prepared to respond in environments involving heights
  • Be aware of expectations in terms of availability to respond, including the probable disruption to private life and the likely impact on any primary or self-employment.
  • Live and / or work in a location that enables a timely response to incidents.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Have transport to be able to attend Coastguard duties
  • Have good availability, particularly during the working week
  • Agree to the terms of and adhere to the CRS Code of Conduct.
