Since the year 2000, fans of stealth and virtual assassins have been treated to a number of titles from the Hitman franchise.

The next version, which is oddly titled Hitman 2, releases soon. There are four different versions available. I’ll help you decide which one is best for you. First, let’s look at the release dates:
Release Date: November 13 for PS4, Xbox One and PC (November 9 for those who pre-order the Gold Edition or Collector’s Edition)
Pre-Order Bonuses and Edition Info
Pre-order any version of Hitman 2, and you’ll receive instant access to Hitman: Sniper Assassin Mode. This new mode lets go solo or play with a friend to pull off sniper assassinations.
- Standard Edition – $59.99 – Basic game, plus Sniper Assassin Mode for pre-order customers
- Silver Edition – $79.99 – Digital game, Sniper Assassin Mode, plus the Executive Pack, which includes an additional pistol and briefcase, plus Expansion 1, which brings a new location, with new missions, sniper map, outfit, and weapons.

- Gold Edition – $99.99 – Everything included in Silver Edition, plus early access, Expansion 2, which adds a new location, new missions, outfits, weapons, and a sniper map.

- Collector’s Edition – $149.99 – Everything included in the Gold Edition, plus the Collector’s Pack, which contains a concussive rubber duck and a new suit. It also includes physical goodies like a replica Agent 47 gun case, a bullet keyring, a rubber duck, and a signature coin.

Which One Should You Buy?
Unless you’re a long-time fan of the Hitman series, a gaming memorabilia collector and have some sort of personal connection to Agent 47, it’s hard to justify purchasing the Collector’s Edition. For $50 more than the Gold, you’re getting a concussive rubber duck and a new suit for in-game use. The physical items seem OK, but not worth $50 extra dollars. Sorry, it just doesn’t feel like the most cost-efficient collector’s edition.
I really like the Gold Edition for serious gamers. As a pre-order customer, you still receive the Sniper Assassin mode, and obviously, it’s the smallest version that allows you to get the game early. There’s also the expansion pack that offers new missions and weapons. It runs $99, which is still a hefty price, but if you’re not working with a limited budget, it’ll likely feel worth the purchase–assuming you like the game.
If you’re not going to take the plunge for the Gold Edition, I’d stick to Standard. The Silver Edition has the Executive Pack and an expansion, but you still don’t get the game early. The in-game extras just aren’t expansive enough to warrant paying $20 extra. Be on the lookout for a review as well as a 10 Things You Should Know Piece about the game closer to the early access date.
