Hit-run victim's family urges against bitterness and revenge

The family of hit-and-run victim Lucy Paveley has thanked the public for its "amazing outpouring of care" following her death, and has also urged against feelings of anger and revenge.

AnglicareSA worker Ms Paveley, 40, was killed while driving to work early on Sunday when her car was allegedly hit by a stolen four-wheel-drive at Parafield, in Adelaide's north.

Four boys and an 18-year-old man were charged on Monday over the incident and faced court on Tuesday.

The case has generated significant community attention, and was the second fatal crash in less than a year involving teenagers in an allegedly stolen car, following the death of Nicole Tucker in October.

A statement released on Thursday by AnglicareSA CEO Peter Sandeman on behalf of Ms Paveley's family expressed deep appreciation for the "heart warming" community response.

"This is a beautiful family that has been overwhelmed by the support people have shown in the darkest moment of their lives," Mr Sandeman said.

"They have asked that we share how grateful they are for the amazing outpouring of care and concern from the wider community.

"They want us all to know that they are managing, and are certainly comforted by people's kindness.

"Lucy's husband Jamie said that he very much appreciates that people want to support him and the children and that this is helping with the healing process."

Tensions flared outside court following appearances by the alleged perpetrators, three of whom were dramatically rearrested on Tuesday after walking from court.

But Mr Paveley urged against expressions of anger.

"We do not encourage bitterness, anger or revenge," he said.

Staff and residents at AnglicareSA's aged care facility on Dutton Court at Elizabeth have created a collection box to support the Paveley family.

Mr Sandeman said a GoFundME donation page had also been created by Mr Paveley's workmates.
