Hit and run BMW driver was nearly four times over legal limit

A BMW driver who failed to stop after being involved in a crash on the M6 has faced justice.

Peter Haronik, of Langsdale Street in Islington, Liverpool was stopped by police while driving his BMW on July 2 on the M5, Birmingham Mail reports.

A breath test recorded 130 microgrammes of alcohol in 100mililitres of breath - over three times the legal limit which is 35.

Earlier that same day, Haronik, 34, failed to stop when his BMW 5 Series was involved in a crash which damaged another vehicle on the M6 in Walsall.

At Birmingham Magistrates' Court on July 5, Haronik pleaded guilty to both charges.

It was noted his crimes were so serious because he gave false details to police, and because of his high level of impairment.

The fact he was involved in a collision was also an aggravating factor in the case.

Haronik was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison and disqualified from driving for 37 months and 14 days.
