Historic SpaceX Crew Dragon rocket launch postponed due to bad weather

The launch of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket has been postponed due to bad weather.

SpaceX were forced to call off the launch of NASA astronauts to the International Space Station on Wednesday.

Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley were set to lift off from the Kennedy Space Center at 16:33 local time (21:33 BST).

Bad weather conditions forced controllers to call an end to the preparations to take off.

SpaceX and NASA will now have to wait until the space station is back in the necessary place to attempt another launch.

The next attempt will be on Saturday, May 20.

The historic mission was will mark the first crewed spaceflight from the US since the retirement of the Space Shuttle programme in 2011 and the first time a private company has attempted to send astronauts into space.

The launch was expected to be visible from Glasgow around 15 minutes after takeoff.

The change in plans could work in favour of Glasgow residents wishing the see the historical moment as the weather looks to be a bit clearer.

Fingers crossed for better luck on Saturday.
