Historic Scotland highlights Paisley's at-risk buildings

Paisley is renowned for it stunning architecture.

From beautiful churches to quirky structures in out-of-the way spots, the town is blessed with buildings that are gems by any standard.

But not all of them are in the best of health.

Historic Scotland’s website lists a number of fine old buildings, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries, that are either in need of some tender loving care or complete refurbishment.

Les Fernie, who runs the popular Walking Tours on Wheels in the town, sees many of these buildings on a regular basis.

“There are quite a lot in Paisley ,” he said.

“The one that people mention most is the old TA building in the High Street ,” he said.

“And this is next to three other prestigious buildings – Coats Memorial, Paisley Museum and the university.”
