Historic North Wales hotel put up for sale

A Welsh hotel with centuries of history has been put up for sale.

The Owain Glyndwr Hotel in Corwen, Denbighshire, was opened in 1740, built on the site of a monastery that dated back to the 12th Century.

It was the site of the first public Welsh Eisteddfod in 1789 - organised by local man Thomas Jones.

It is on the market with estate agent Dafydd Hardy for £425,000.

Dafydd Hardy said: "This property has a wealth of local history and its said to have been the site of the first public Eisteddfod in 1789.

"The hotel stands proud amidst an eclectic mix of architecture, being a fine example of an 18th century coaching inn which has retained most of its original character and is a highly significant element of the townscape – it’s a landmark building within the town.
