Historic Merchant City stables conversion wins prestigious design award

The conversion of a historic stables in the heart of the Merchant City has won a prestigious design award.

Wheatley Group's redevelopment of the Bell Street stables was named the winner in the Affordable Housing category at the Scottish Design Awards.

The £7million development saw the B-listed building transformed into 52 new flats for mid-market rent by the GHA and Lowther Homes. It was once owned by the city's cleansing department and housed working horses.
