An Anfield pub is set to become the latest in Liverpool to be converted into flats as owners look to find uses for empty historic pubs across the city.
The Claremont, on the corner of Lower Breck Road and September Road, would be transformed under proposals recently submitted to Liverpool Council.
The new layout would see the three storey building turned into five one bed apartments and one two bed apartment.
A report prepared by Mark Yates Architects and submitted with the proposals said the vacant building is in a poor and deteriorating condition.

The report said: “The ground floor consists of two open plan bar areas, with both a female and male WC at the rear of the property. The two bar areas are divided by a central circulation space, which provides access to the other two floors, and acts as the main entrance to the building. There is a secondary entrance, directly off Lower Breck Road, which provides access to the front bar area and also down to the cellar.
“The project brief is to convert the existing building into new apartments, ensuring they are adequately sized and well designed.
“The building is currently in a state of disrepair, with various signs of plant growth on the external walls and roof. There is also signs of significant damp, as well as damage to the existing roof structure, which appears to be have been caused by recent neglect.”
Liverpool Council’s planning department will now decide on the proposals.
It is not just north Liverpool which has seen proposals to convert pubs, with similar proposals in neighbouring boroughs.
A number of pubs in Runcorn are set to be converted into housing after shutting during the pandemic and a historic pub in Belle Vale will soon be torn down to make way for a Home Bargains.
