An historic Liverpool bingo hall is set to be turned into a shop and car was under newly submitted plans.
Carlton Bingo Social Club, in Orrell Park, was already closed to customers but now part of the building could be transformed completely.
There is not much detail attached to the planning application submitted to Liverpool Council but the building's owner is applying for a "change of use of part of the Carlton Bingo Hall to a mixed use comprising of a convenience store and an indoor car washing and valeting facility".
It is not clear exactly when the hall closed to customers but there are adverts for events at the club online from late 2017.
Some of Liverpool's bingo halls have struggled in recent years and the coronavirus pandemic is also hitting the industry hard, with national chain Buzz Bingo announcing the closure of 26 halls across the UK.
Bingo halls are now allowed to reopen under the latest step of lockdown easing but many halls furloughed almost all of their staff for months after they were forced to shut in March.
At the beginning of lockdown, staff at a popular Liverpool bingo club were "temporarily laid off" and told they will get just £29 a day for five days to compensate them.
Around 20 people working at the Pavilion Bingo, in Lodge Lane, Toxteth, were emailed by their boss telling them they would each get £145 - but would then need to sign on as temporarily unemployed at their local job centre.
