Historic house with iconic Liverpool statue in garden

An "extensively refurbished" townhouse on one of Liverpool's most historic streets has been put on the market.

The huge property on Falkner Street, in the heart of the city's Georgian Quarter, is spread across five floors and boasts five bedrooms and four bathrooms.

According to the listing, the house underwent a "complete restoration and refurbishment" in 2015 and has been "finished to the highest of standards".

Falkner Street was built in early to mid 1800s and is named after Edward Falkner, the man who commissioned the build of Falkner Square.

The main entrance to the property - up a set of stone steps and through a delightful bright green door - is on the ground floor.

Heading through, there are two generously proportioned reception rooms, with the front lounge boasting a bay window overlooking the stunning architecture the area is famed for. The rooms have been knocked through to provide an open plan family space.

The house is largely unfurnished, putting its period features on full display, with the huge rooms illuminated by natural light flooding in through huge windows.

The modern, glossy kitchen is housed in the basement, alongside a dining area.

Five bedrooms are split across the property's three upper floors. The first level has two bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite, while there are two more bedrooms and a family bathroom on the second floor.

The third floor has one final bedroom and another en-suite bathroom, along with ample storage space.

Outside, the paved patio is home to a city icon - a superlambbanana. The huge flagship sculpture on Tithebarn Street was installed for Liverpool's tenure as European Capital of Culture in 2008 and 125 replicas were also made. They were auctioned off later that year and one made it into this property's yard.

The property is on the market with estate agent City Residential for a guide price of £750,000. The estate agent said: "Falkner Street really is a jewel in the crown of the Georgian Quarter with it's quaint cobbled street and distinct charm."

The price tag is well below the average for the stunning Falkner Street. In the last year, houses there had an overall average price of £790,000.

According to Rightmove the figure is 43% higher than the previous 12 months and 32% up on the 2018 peak of £597,500.
