Historic cottage in the middle of a dual carriageway up for sale

A historic cottage located right in the middle of a busy dual carriageway has come on the market in Liverpool.

The 185-year old cottage is something of a local landmark on Menlove Avenue and after years of seeing the property on our journeys along the busy road, it's up for sale.

On the market with Marshall Property for £425,000, the property is certainly unlike anything else on the market in Merseyside.

Located just on the edge of Caldertones Park on the centre of Menlove Avenue plenty of south Liverpool locals will recognise the property from passing it on a daily basis.

Marshall Property said the cottage is 'loaded with potential' and 'waiting to be transformed' and offers a rare opportunity to add value to a period home

The dual carriageway is a busy road through the Calderstones area of the city - and certainly not the place you'd expect to find a quaint period cottage.

The cottage has nearly 200 years of history, dating back to approximately 1836 according to an online listing.

Boasting three bedrooms and a open-plan downstairs layout, the property has two living and dining areas with potential for development.

The property retains a number of original period features, like the stone framed windows, high ceilings and double-sided fireplace.

Upstairs, the master bedroom comes with its own ensuite bathroom, with a further two bedrooms on the first floor.

An online listing uploaded to property website RightMove describes the cottage as 'loaded with potential and waiting to be transformed'.

It says the property offers 'a rare opportunity to add value to a period home' thanks to the potential for house-hunters to make it their own.
