Historic castle damaged and stones stolen as cops probe incident

A probe has started after a section of wall was damaged and stones stolen from a historic castle in Falkirk.

Officers say that sometime between Tuesday July, 1 and Sunday July, 18 the vandalism and theft took place at Torwood Castle.

The building dates back to 1566 and is said to be of historical value.

It's also a Grade A listed structure, which means buildings of special architectural or historic interest which are outstanding examples of a particular period, style or building type.

In a tweet, Police Scotland said: "Between 1st & 18th July, a section of wall at Torwood Castle was damaged & large stones stolen."

The castle is Grade A listed, dated to 1566 & assumed the wall was built then & is of historical value.

"Any info 101, quote 1713 of 18th July, or Crimestoppers anon. 0800 555 111."
