Hisar man booked for raping divorcee

HISAR: A man accused of raping a divorced woman for six years on the pretext of marriage and then threatening to kill her was booked on Saturday, and while the investigation is on, police haven’t arrested him yet.

The complainant has charged a man from a Hisar’s village under sections 376(2)(n) (repeated rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Married 12 years ago, the woman has a 10-year-old daughter.

After a few years of marriage, she had a rift with her husband and they divorced by mutual consent. According to the police, she moved into a rented house in Hisar, where she met the accused six years ago.

The woman claims that he promised to marry her but raped her on the pretext repeatedly in six years, and now when she asked him to get married, he abandoned her and threatened to kill her.
