A hugely popular local football fan has finally left hospital after a five-month Covid battle.
Lochee United FC supporter and volunteer, James Henderson, walked off the ward with the aid of a stick and a huge smile on his face.
Nurses clapped James, from Coupar Angus, as he left Perth Royal Infirmary in time for Christmas.
A post on the NHS Tayside Facebook page said: “After five months spent in hospital recovering from COVID-19, James Henderson from Coupar Angus has been discharged from Ward 3 at Perth Royal Infirmary.
“James was admitted in July and spent time at Ninewells Hospital and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
“He then started his rehabilitation at Perth Royal Infirmary, which he will now continue at home.
“We wish James all the best in his continued recovery.”
Writing on the Lochee United FC Facebook page, a club spokesman said: “It is always good to report a good news story and I am very happy to put this wee story up tonight.
“Lochee United supporter and volunteer James Henderson was discharged from hospital today after a long 5 months battling Covid.
“Cracking picture with his smile saying it all. Enjoy Xmas and New Year James, hopefully see you back at Thomson Park.”
Other fans were quick to wish James well.

Billy Williamson wrote: “All the best for your recovery James and a merry Christmas.”
While Alex Mcinnes added: “All the best for Christmas and hope you return to see the Chee in 2022 James.”
