“His Life Is Being Eroded” Prince Andrew Reportedly Eyes Harry and Meghan’s Former Home Amid Mounting Pressure

Prince Andrew’s living situation could be about to change in a big way, as reports swirl that he may be forced to leave his longtime residence at Royal Lodge. For more than two decades, the Duke of York has lived in the sprawling Windsor property without paying rent. But after surrendering his remaining royal titles in the wake of Virginia Giuffre’s explosive memoir, the pressure on him to move out has ramped up.

According to reports, Andrew has set his sights on Frogmore Cottage, the former home of his nephew Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Meanwhile, his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who still shares Royal Lodge with him, is said to be interested in Adelaide Cottage, currently home to Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to move out next month, which could open the door for Fergie’s move.

The possible relocations come with one upside — both Frogmore and Adelaide Cottage are already within the royal security perimeter, so they wouldn’t need expensive new security arrangements or renovations. Still, Andrew is believed to be deeply reluctant to leave the luxury of Royal Lodge, where he has lived since 2003, especially since his “cast iron” lease reportedly prevents him from being legally evicted.

In the midst of the speculation, new reports claim Abu Dhabi’s royal family has offered Andrew the use of a lavish mansion in the United Arab Emirates if his situation in the UK becomes “untenable.” Sources told The Sun that Andrew and Ferguson would be “afforded every luxury” if they choose to take up the offer.

The disgraced royal stepped back from public life years ago, but last Friday, he officially gave up his Duke of York title and other honours following the upcoming release of Giuffre’s posthumous memoir. Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexual abuse — allegations he strongly denies — co-wrote the book with journalist Amy Wallace.

Wallace told the Associated Press that Giuffre wanted “wealthy, powerful men to be held to account,” and said Andrew is now facing the consequences of his past. “What we’re watching is Prince Andrew’s life being eroded for his past behaviour,” Wallace said. “While he’s not being tried in a court of law, his behaviour’s catching up with him.”

In a statement, Andrew said the decision to give up his titles was made in consultation with King Charles and the rest of the family. “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life,” he said.

He added, “With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.” As the fallout continues, one thing seems clear — Prince Andrew’s royal life, as he knew it, is slipping further away.
