'His goals put Barnsley to the sword' - Player ratings as Bristol Rovers give Gasheads something to smile about

Adam Smith - 6

Made a bit of a mess of the Barnsley goal as he arguably could have claimed a cross before palming a shot straight at Kieffer Moore, but he pulled off a good save shortly after to keep the score at 1-0. Distribution was solid on the whole, too.

James Clarke - 6

A quiet game for Clarke, who linked up well with Rodman on the wing but did not really have a lot to do in defence.

Tom Lockyer - 7

If this is his last game, he demonstrated exactly why Rovers will miss him. Dealt extremely well with the dangerous Cauley Woodrow, who barely got a sniff all game.

Tony Craig - 7

Was given a tough task against Kieffer Moore but he did well, not allowing the striker too much space and competing well with him in the air.

Michael Kelly - 6

Got forward well but the end product was not always there, giving the ball away softly at times.

Alex Rodman - 8

His two goals put Barnsley to the sword and his direct running at the defence caused them problems all afternoon. A fine display from the winger who also got Liam Linsday sent off with a nice charge down.

Ollie Clarke - 7

Was Rovers' best player in the first half, finding plenty of space and performing well as he operated just behind the striker. Played some good passes too, but was a little quieter in the second half.

Ed Upson - 7

A consistent threat from his set pieces, linking up well with Liam Sercombe who found plenty of space on the edge of the box. Played some nice passes in open play too before being subbed with 10 minutes left.

Abu Ogogo - 6

Produced one good run in the first half and caused Barnsley problems when he helped Rovers move onto the front foot. Was unable to break-up play as much as usual when Barnsley had the ball, though, before being replaced early in the second half.

Liam Sercombe - 8

Set up the winner with a fine cross. This was a great display from Sercombe who reached the sort of levels that he hasn't shown enough of this season. Seemed to have an extra yard of pace and also found plenty of space on the edge of the box.

Alex Jakubiak - 6

Showed nice awareness to set up Rodman for the equaliser but he wasn't smart enough when playing on the shoulder of the defence, too often being caught offside.

Substitutes

Gavin Reilly (for Ogogo, 56 )- 5

Should have scored moments coming on when Adam Davies saved his shot and was not really involved as much after that.

Chris Lines (for Upson, 83) - N/A

Alfie Kilgour (for Lockyer, 90) - N/A
