His Dark Materials: Release date for BBC and HBO series announced

The release date for the TV adaptation of Sir Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials has been revealed.

Fans in the UK will be able to tune in on BBC One on Sunday, 3 November.

In the US, the show will debut on 4 November on HBO.

Fans will be able to tune in on HBO in the fall, as the show will debut on 4 November.

His Dark Materials stars Dafne Keen (Logan) as Lyra Belacqua, while Ruth Wilson has been cast as Marisa Coulter.

James McAvoy will appear as Lord Asriel and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby.

A trailer released in May sees McAvoy’s character telling Lyra: “You once asked me what evil was. There are things that you’re better off not understanding.”

Another trailer unveiled in July sees Lyra being taken away by Coulter as Wilson's character tells the girl she can "teach her to wield power" – if she lets Coulter "mould" her.
