Hiroyuki Sanada Expresses Interest In Joining Star Wars Franchise

Hiroyuki Sanada desires to be part of Star Wars franchise.

Renowned actor Hiroyuki Sanada, known for his roles in John Wick: Chapter 4 and Shogun, has recently expressed his desire to be a part of the iconic Star Wars franchise. In a conversation with Variety, Sanada revealed his admiration for the beloved series, stating that he is a 'big fan' of the expansive Star Wars universe.

Sanada's enthusiasm for potentially joining a tentpole franchise like Marvel or Star Wars was evident as he expressed his openness to the idea. Having already made a brief appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Endgame, the prospect of him wielding a lightsaber in a Star Wars film is particularly exciting for fans.

With the Star Wars franchise continuously expanding both on the big and small screens, there are numerous opportunities for Sanada to become a part of this galaxy far, far away. Upcoming projects include a movie focusing on The Mandalorian & Grogu, as well as films exploring the origins of the Jedi and new Jedi orders.

On the small screen, Disney+ is set to release The Acolyte, a series following a Jedi Master investigating mysterious crimes. The show is scheduled to premiere on June 4, 2024, offering fans another immersive Star Wars experience.

While fans eagerly anticipate the possibility of seeing Sanada with a lightsaber, they can currently enjoy his captivating performance in the critically acclaimed historical drama series, Shogun, available for streaming on Disney+. The show has garnered high praise from critics, with a near-perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Shogun's compelling narrative and stellar performances have drawn comparisons to the cultural phenomenon Game of Thrones, setting it apart from other series attempting to replicate its success. As viewers await the season finale airing on April 23, 2024, the show continues to captivate audiences with its rich storytelling and standout performances.
