A Levain Cup match between Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Sagan Tosu scheduled for Wednesday was canceled because of the high likelihood that some of the Sagan Tosu players were infected, the J-League professional soccer federation announced.
The match was to be held in the Edion Stadium Hiroshima in Hiroshima City at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, Kim Myung Hwi, manager of Sagan Tosu, was found to be infected with the coronavirus. Then the J-1 League team conducted PCR tests on a total of about 90 players and staff.
According to the J-League, it was discovered on Wednesday that several players and staff tested positive or deemed to be likely positive.
Therefore, the J-League decided to cancel the match to prevent the spread of infections.
