Hipp Organic meal spokesman issues statement after Belfast mum's 'disgusting' find in daughter's dinner

An East Belfast mum has spoken of her horror after she said she discovered something 'disgusting' lurking in her daughter's dinner.

Nicola Millar, 39, opened the Hipp Organic meal to feed five-year-old Katy on Wednesday night when she said she noticed something wasn't right.

A grey lump of what appeared to be mould was lurking at the back of the packet of vegetable and chicken risotto.

Speaking to Belfast Live, the mum-of-three said: "My wee one is five and tends to be unwell and that is the main thing she takes. I bought it at the Boots on the Woodstock Road and brought it back to give to her.

"When I saw that when I opened it I took it straight back to make them aware. They could not apologise enough and removed the other meals from the shelves.

"One of the guys working there said he did microbiology and asked to see it, he said it was bacteria and fungus. They took my details and asked me to bring round the cardboard cover too.

"It was in date. I always buy from them but I never will again.

"I was totally shocked.

"I have contacted Hipp and I am waiting for them to get back to me. I just don't want this to happen to anyone else.

"I have expressed to them how I feel about it and I will not be buying from them anymore.

"Someone else may not have seen it and fed it to their child."

A spokesperson for Hipp Organic said: "We are aware of this and take this very seriously. The quality and safety of our products is of utmost importance to us and we conduct many checks before our products leave the factory.

"We are in conversation with the consumer and will remain in close contact with them whilst our investigations are ongoing."
