Hindu Mahasabha moves application for survey of Mathura's Meena Masjid

AGRA: National treasurer of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM), Dinesh Sharma, has moved an application in Mathura district court for the survey of Meena Masjid which he alleged was built after encroaching upon the Krishna Janmabhoomi land. Sharma has demanded that the court "amin" should be tasked to conduct the survey and present a status report regarding the “disputed” property.

Last month, Sharma had filed a civil suit seeking removal of the Meena Masjid, which the petitioner claimed was built in a part of Thakur Keshav Dev Ji temple, on the east side of the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi premises. The suit is registered in the court of civil judge (senior division) Mathura, Jyoti Singh.

The respondents of the suit are president/chairman UP Sunni Central Waqf Board, Lucknow, and secretary of Intezamia committee, Meena Masjid, Deeg Gate. The court has assigned the next date of hearing on October 26.

Sharma told TOI, “The basic purpose of the suit is to protect the property of Thakur Keshav Dev Ji Maharaj who owns land measuring 13.37 acre in Mathura city on which Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi is situated. We have sought removal of the construction raised in the name of Meena Masjid near Vrindavan railway line at Deeg Gate on land owned by the deity.”

“I have filed an application in court for a survey of the area under encroachment which includes Meena Masjid. Illegal constructions are still being carried out in the area. We will present detailed evidence in this regard during the next hearing date on October 26,” he said.

Earlier, Sharma had filed a case (number 174 of 2021) seeking removal of the Shahi Masjid Idgah, adjacent to the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi structure in Mathura. That case is pending before the court of the civil judge (senior division) in Mathura.
