A collection of jewelry that belonged to Egyptian actress Hind Rostom was sold at Sotheby's auction on Friday.

The eight-piece collection of jewelry with dazzling precious stones and gems was sold at a higher price than their pre-sale estimates.

The iconic actress’s family had offered the collection for auction.

The two most precious pieces, an emerald and diamond bracelet and a Chatila diamond necklace, were sold for $57,627 and $30,186, respectively - the bracelet at double the estimate and the necklace at triple.

Rostom (1929- 2011) was among the most renowned stars of Arab cinema’s golden age. Starring in over 80 movies, she always took on the role of strong women, becoming a symbol of Arab women’s strength and independence.

With her blonde hair and her simultaneously voluptuous and elegant fashion sense, she was often described as the Marilyn Monroe of the East.

She retired from acting in 1979 and stayed away from the public eye until the time of her death.

Rostom was famous for her passion for collecting jewelry from around the world, as well as designing her own magnificent pieces. She regularly attended auctions, where she would bid for precious jewels.
