Himachal Pradesh would become country's most prosperous state in next ten years: CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu

SHIMLA: While inaugurating the first Cultural evening of the National Level Holi Festival at Sujanpur Tihra in Hamirpur district on Sunday late evening, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that with the blessings and cooperation of the people, Himachal Pradesh would become country's most prosperous in the next ten years.

He said that for achieving this target, tough decisions were required to be taken to strengthen the economy of the state.

Sukhu while addressing the public blamed the previous BJP government for unmindful spending. He said that the development of the entire state was hampered during the last five years of the BJP regime and was concentrated only in a few regions. "We will make more strides in the next 10 years and take the state to new heights," he said.

He said that the previous BJP government had opened and upgraded more than 900 institutions during last six months of its tenure without any budget and handed over empty coffers to his government, leaving no funds for development. “Yet we are committed to create our own resources and will have to take few stringent measures, and will come out of this financial crisis soon which will pave the wave for equitable development of the State,” he added.

He also announced construction of eighteen Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools in the next financial year in the State for which land had already been identified. He said the State Government has planned to build these schools in each assembly constituency of the state in a phased manner. The schools will be built on more than 100 kanal of land and will provide modern facilities and quality education to the students.

Sukhu said the State Government would construct a world class Cancer Hospital at Jol Sapad in district Hamirpur in the next three years. He said that the facility of robotic surgery would be introduced in Medical College Hamirpur shortly in order to facilitate the patients. By implementing the old pension, the State Government has fulfilled its first promise and all other guarantees will also be fulfilled in a phased manner, he added.

The chief minister, on the request of local MLA Rajinder Rana, announced construction of a new bus stand at Sujanpur and an increase of bed capacity from 50 beds to 100 beds in the Sujanpur Civil Hospital with modern facilities from the next financial year.

He announced the opening of a degree college in Tauni Devi of Sujanpur assembly segment in the next financial year with adequate infrastructure and staff and starting of Economics and English classes in Sujanpur College. He also announced the opening of a division of Jal Shakti Vibhag and Electricity Board in Sujanpur with proper funding arrangements.
