SHIMLA: Battle for ticket in remote Bharmaur (ST) assembly constituency of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh has become interesting with the entry of Senior medical superintendent of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla, who is also the renowned Neurosurgeon of state.
Professor Janak Raj Pakhretia submitted three months notice for resignation citing “domestic circumstances and personal obligations” as reasons. The way Pakhretia was active in his constituency has led to speculations that he will contest the assembly election this time at any cost.
Dr Janak Raj was posted as professor at Neurosugery department, Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialities Shimla and was discharging his duties as Senior Medical Superintendent of IGMC Shimla.
He had joined the service of state on May 21, 2009.
In his resignation notice dated August 16, he has requested the principal secretary (health) to treat his application as three months notice for resigning from the post of Professor (Neurosurgery) besides discharing his duties as Senior Medical Superintendent of IGMC.
According to sources, most likely he will seek BJP ticket to contest the coming assembly election and this will throw challenge to the sitting MLA Jiya Lal.
In 2017 assembly election, Janak Raj had tried for the ticket but at that time, BJP preferred Jiya Lal but this time resignation has led to the speculations that he will contest at any cost.
For last couple of months, Janak Raj is touring the entire assembly constituency and is holding interaction with the people from village to village.
