SHIMLA: Congress party has postponed the rally of AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi that was scheduled for October 10 at Solan in Himachal Pradesh. Citing bad weather as reason now Congress claimed that rally will be held in Solan on October 14.
For the coming assembly election while BJP has launched its election campaign with full force by roping in its national leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress so far has failed to bring its top leadership from Delhi to the state for campaigning while leaders from the state are themselves busy in Delhi to settle ticket issue.
While Congress has to kick-start its election campaign formally in Himachal Pradesh by holding a big rally, BJP already has held two mega rallies at Mandi and Bilaspur and both these rallies were addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Due to bad weather Modi could not arrive in Mandi so he was present in Bilaspur on Wednesday to address the rally. Later Modi also attended the Rath Yatra of historic Kullu Dusshera.
Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary (organisation) Rajneesh Kimta said that rally of Priyanka Gandhi scheduled for October 10 has been postponed for October 14 due to bad weather prediction. He said that rally will be held at Thodo ground of Solan.
Issuing a circular in this context on Thursday, Kimta has asked all the office bearers of the party, district presidents and block presidents to ensure their presence and coordinate with the party workers from their respective constituencies to bring workers in large numbers to the rally. He said that the assembly elections are going to be held in the state shortly, in such a situation, Priyanka Gandhi will sound the poll bugle of the Congress from Solan.
State Congress president Pratibha Singh has also fixed the responsibilities for the successful organization of October 14 rally at Thodo ground of Solan by issuing necessary guidelines to all the party office bearers.
She has invited all the MLAs of the party, former MLAs, party office bearers, all the members of the State Congress Working Committee, the heads of leading organizations, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal, Youth Congress, NSUI, INTUC as well as the heads of all the departments of the Congress along with all their office bearers in this rally.
