MANALI: President of India Ram Nath Kovind will visit engineering marvel Atal tunnel on June 11, for which Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti administrations have started preparations.
The officials of both the districts, which are separated by the Atal tunnel, had a meeting in Manali on Saturday to discuss the preparations ahead of the President's proposed visit. The deputy commissioners of both the districts reviewed the preparedness by the departments. According to sources, the President will land at Sissu helipad of Lahaul valley, 6km from the north portal of the Atal tunnel. He will then come to the tunnel and is expected to spend nearly 30 minutes. The BRO officials will brief him about the specifications of the 9.02km-long tunnel built on the Manali-Leh highway. TNN
