Himachal Pradesh on yellow alert for heavy rain

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh is on yellow alert for two days in anticipation of heavy rainfall at isolated places along with thunderstorm, lightning, and gust (wind speed 30 to 40 kilometres an hour) in Chamba, Kangra, Hamirpur, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur districts.

Rain and snowfall in the higher reaches has caused the minimum and maximum temperatures at several stations in the state to fall sharply in the last 24 hours. On Sunday, the least temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district, while the highest of 33.2°C was at Una.

The weather office also warned of disruptions of essential services such as water, electricity, and communications, while the visibility is also likely to drop. There is al possibility of landslides as well due to heavy rainfall in the hilly regions.
