Himachal Pradesh: Kullu hotels to display drug warnings

MANALI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has asked owners of hotels, restaurants and bars in Mandi, Kullu and Manali to affix steel signboards displaying warning messages to spread awareness against drugs.

Kullu and Mandi districts are most affected by drugs, especially charas. Now, rising cases of synthetic drugs are becoming a growing headache for agencies. NCB had chosen Mandi district, which is also gateway to Kullu-Manali, as its office in Himachal. Now it has directed hotels, restaurants and bars to not just warn but also spread awareness to stop sale, purchase and consumption of drugs.

The NCB zonal director at Chandigarh has written to the hotel and restaurant associations in Mandi, Kullu andManali that steel signboards should be affixed by all properties. “The Centre and director general of NCB have desired that all stakeholders should come together to spread awareness among people. For this, it has been proposed to affix steel signboards in all the hotels, restaurants and bars in Mandi, Kullu and Manali,” the letter read. NCB will spread awareness in coordination with stakeholders.
