Himachal Pradesh forest minister Rakesh Pathania slams Congress for ‘saheliyon’ remark

SHIMLA: Taking strong objection to the use of the word “saheliyon” by Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri against chief minister Jai Ram Thakur, forest minister Rakesh Pathania on Friday requested him to take his words back by terming it as unparliamentary and defamatory. Pathania said if Agnihotri does not withdraw his remark, then other options are open for them and claimed that by using the word “saheliyon” in a public platform, the Congress leader has insulted women who are worshipped and respected in “Devbhumi”.

While addressing mediapersons in Shimla on Friday, forest minister Rakesh Pathania along with power minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary said that in last few days, the level of political debate has dipped very low. “Mukesh Agnihotri should quote one incident where the chief minister Jai Ram Thakur had taken the name of his wife and daughters. Out of frustration, Mukesh is targeting chief minister by asking him to vacate the Oak Over which is the designated residence of chief minister,” the minister said.

He said that Mukesh Agnihotri wants to become chief minister but at the same time knows that Congress is not coming to power. “Mukesh Agnihotri must explain his Saheliyon ke liye helicopter remark if he wants to contest the next assembly election. In a fit of rage one can say anything, but there is need to exercise restrain if a person is a Leader of Opposition,” said Pathania.
