SHIMLA: With more rainfall in store, Himachal Pradesh is facing the moderate risk of flash floods at few places in next 36 hours as the meteorological department has issued the warning for this.
According to the warning, moderate risk over few watershed in neighbourhood of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Kullu and Shimla (upper part) is there. A red alert has been issued for the lower and middle hills of state for Tuesday and Wednesday with the warning of heavy to very heavy and extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and lightning likely at isolated places.
Lowers hills of state comprises of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur districts beside parts of districts of Kangra (Nurpur, Jwalaji & Dehra), Solan (Nalagarh, Baddi, Arki and Kunihar) and Sirmaur (Nahan and Paonta Sahib). Middle hills compises of Shimla, Mandi, Kullu districts beside some parts of Chamba (Sihunta, Chowari and Chamba) and most parts of districts of Solan and Sirmaur
According to the warning of 36 hours flash flood risk outlook issued by Indian Meteorological Department for next 36 hours, surface runoff, inundation may occur at some fully saturated watersheds and low lying areas due to expected persistent rainfall in nest 36 hours.
Till July 30 there would be no respite from the heavy downpour in Himachal Pradesh as orange warning has been issued for Thursday and yellow warning has been issued for Friday. Officials said that on Thursday the lower and middle hills of state are likely to have heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places. In this monsoon season, Himachal Pradesh already has suffered loss of Rs 401.1924 crore from June 13 till Monday 6 pm.
Bilaspur district has suffered loss of Rs 63 lakh, Chamba district Rs 120.455 lakh, Hamirpur district Rs 35.58 lakh, Kangra district Rs 293.64 lakh, Kinnaur district Rs 56 lakh, Kullu district Rs 201.72 lakh, Lahaul-Spiti district Rs 40 lakh, Mandi district Rs 144.98 lakh, Shimla district Rs 145.55 lakh, Sirmaur district Rs 98.91 lakh, Solan district Rs 67.84 lakh and Una district Rs 80.76 lakh.
