Himachal Pradesh eyeing to boost industrial investment: CM Jai Ram Thakur

SHIMLA: With Covid situation improving, Himachal Pradesh is eyeing to boost industrial investment in the state by ensuring ground breaking of over Rs 10,000 crore worth of MoUs in coming days.

While speaking at the launch of coffee table book, “Icons of Himachal” brought out by The Times of India at Shimla on Friday, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said that his government is working on bringing three ambitious projects including bulk drug park in Una, Medical Devices Park in Solan and Plastic Park in Nalagarh.

Jai Ram Thakur while congratulating the Icons of Himachal, said that these individuals awarded by The Times of India have contributed immensely to their motherland and ignited the lives of thousands of others by providing them ample opportunities for development and growth. He said that all the entrepreneurs have also contributed significantly towards the development of the State.

He said that despite being a small State, Himachal Pradesh has shown way to several big states of the country by pioneering in various sectors. He said that the State Government has taken several initiatives to invite the entrepreneurs to be partner in the developmental journey of the State. Himachal Pradesh has been ranked at 7th position in ease of doing business. He said that Himachal Pradesh has emerged as a Faster Moving State in the country by providing congenial environment for the entrepreneurs to invest.

He said that State Government in order to woo the entrepreneurs, had organized Global Investors Meet on November 7 and 8, 2019 at Dharamshala where 707 MoUs worth over Rs 96700 crore were signed. He said that ground breaking ceremony was organized within a month of this event in which Rs 13600 crore worth projects were started. He said that now the State Government was ready to organize second ground breaking ceremony with projects worth Rs 10000 crore.

Jai Ram Thakur said that State Government has also emphatically taken up the matter of sanctioning Bulk Drug Park and Medical Devices Park for the State. He said that over 1400 hectare land had been identified in Una district for Bulk Drug Park which would attract worth Rs 8000 crore. He said that Medical Devices Park once sanctioned would be established at Nalagarh in Solan district.

He said that although the Covid-19 pandemic has hampered the developmental endeavours of the State but still Government was committed to ensure that the developmental spirit does not dampen. He also thanked the entrepreneurs for reposing their faith in policies and programmes of the State Government and choosing Himachal Pradesh as destination for investment.

Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Director Information and Public Relations Harbans Singh Brascon and other prominent persons were present on the occasion.
